Chickens and other stuff

Well lots of people have asked for more photos of the chickens. So I am posting some more. It is hard to believe but you can see how much bigger they are than they were just a few days ago! You can really tell in this photo how their feathers are coming in.

I have learned in the last few weeks that chickens are not the brightest animals. They like to stand on top of their feeder. I wish I had a video camera because they are starting to try and fly and they get very excited when we take the top off the brooder. You can really see the chicks feet in this photo, they look like giant alien feet.

Here they are just resting. It has been so hot the last few days we have had to put a fan on the brooder to keep them cool. They look really freaky when they get hot and start to pant.

In addition to the chickens we have also been tending to the garden. Here are some photos of the garden. The two new beds are doing wonderfully well, that new dirt (dirt, sand, and compost) that we order is amazing and was well worth the money. This is a view from the bedroom. The garden beds on the right are the ones with the new dirt, even from this far away you can tell how much better the plants in that bed are doing.

This is the last bowl of peas that we will get from the garden this year. Now that it has started to get so hot they are starting to die. Peas are a cool weather veggie. The yellow thing on top is a yellow cherry tomato. This came from a plant that my friend Jeph gave me and my mom LOVES these, she had never had one before and every time she comes to visit she checks the plant to see if there are any new tomatoes. I even ate one!!!!

These are the latest squash and zucchini. We picked 9 zucchini on Tuesday night, now two days later we have 4 more. There are tons of little ones on the plants still. It looks like it will be a good summer for the veggies.
