Poor Kitty
Our cat Meliville had become really matted over the last few months. We had tried to brush him out but we just couldn't get all the mats out. He was matted all the way down to his skin. A few weeks ago he went to the vet for his annual check up and when I asked the vet, she recommended we have him shaved down. I thought you all might like to see his photos.

I had to do the same thing to our small dog. He didn't look anything like himself but he was matted, too. We're trying to stay on top of the mats this time around so he won't have to get shaved again.
I never knew cats got matted. Don't they groom themselves?
