Cats catch mice, right?

So yesterday morning I like so many other women screamed like a little sissy because there was a mouse in our kitchen. When I realized how stupid and "girly" I sounded I did stop.
Our fearless cats, Melville, Indiana, and Katie were playing together (under the Christmas tree no less!) with a mouse when it escaped and ran under the stove. I told them that I expected to see a little mouse carcas when I came home from work and they blinked to acknowledge my request.
I came home from work and Katie and Indiana were camped out in front of the stove. It was their turn at the watch. Throughout the evening the gaurd shifts changed but still no mouse. This morning there was no gaurd, so either the mouse escaped during the night or one of the cats got a tastey treat. According to my mom (who is an expert in all area's farmy) the cats normally eat the entire mouse. Waste not, want not!
