Alpha Dog

Well as some of you may know, Paul and I have 4 dogs. Bear is a chow mix, Killer is a Begal mix, Adelaide is a Lab mix, and Dottie is a Dalmation. We have worked on training them off and on for about a year, but we have not been very consistant. Now that the weather is so nice we are going to start training them for real, we are really going to make an effort every day to work on one thing with them. They are all really good at sitting, so we are now trying to learn to walk on the leash.
Many thanks to Ann, who this weekend introduced me to the show "The dog whisperer". I have order some books via OhioLINK (a wonderful library program where different libraries share books, often duplicated around the country). They all say that we (Paul & I) must make ourselves the alpha dogs. I think Paul just wants to be their buddy, but we must stay strong! That way when you all come over our dogs won't jump on you and behave badly. Does Paul look like an Alpha dog?
