My little protege
Over the summer I supervised a practicum student named Dan, who wants to be an education librarian. He did a great job helping me teach and working at the reference desk. He will graduate in December and is starting to apply for jobs. We have had lunch to look over his resume and cover letter, it makes me feel so needed and nice that he asked for my help. I see him as my little protege, somebody that I am grooming to take their place in the world of librarians. Almost like my mini-me.

Man, I want a protege. Someone to fetch me Starbucks and pick up my printouts from the printer. I'd call at three in morning just to keep him/her on her toes. I'd have surprise inspections and a dress code... If Dan is cute, his clothing should be restricted to a minimum level - just a thought!
I think I saw "Invasion of the Library Snatchers." I stopped watching because all the dialogue was whispered...

Sam, just because you are unhappy with the career path you selected, does not mean that everybody who works in a library is! Don't push your negativity onto my protege.
Ann, Dan will remain fully clothed at all times, I am a happily married women. He is not my slave, so no calling at 3am or fetching starbucks. I am trying to inpart my knowledge unto him.
I'm a little disturbed by all this assumption and tone that Dan is a sex toy.
Vanessa had a little too much excitement in her posting. Naturally, this let our imaginations run wild. I mean, who gets THAT excited over someone going into the library field. Yeesh!
