Reappointment craziness
At this time all over the country you will find academic tenure track librarians running around like chickens without their heads. Not because of the start of the busy fall semester, but do to the fact that our reappointment/tenure/promotion files are due soon. Luckily I only have a reappointment file due, my tenure/promotion file won't be due until 2010 (oh, that is only 3 years away!). So I wrote my narratives this weekend and gave them to my mentor to review, he promises to have them back to me tomorrow. However in the meantime I have thought of at least 4 other things that I need add. In addition to the narratives I have to add supplementary materials (these are things that back up what I say in my narratives like copies of my poster session, lesson plans, articles, e-mails). I will get this done!
To make matters slightly more complicated, we (and by we I really mean I) found a dog wondering around in our yard Monday morning. I thought it was safe to befriend because it had a collar, but alas no tags or identification. He is a male rottweiler, who looks a lot like our dog Bear but with short hair. Of coarse nobody is looking for him, so we are trying to find him a home because we can not have 5 dogs! Can't, not going to do it! There is a couple coming to look at him tomorrow evening. Isn't he cute?

You might as well give in to the fact that you are going to end up with a fifth dog. What's one more dog? This dog will perform sentry duty for the house. As long as you don't go into double digits in dog ownership you'll be just fine. Have you named the dog yet? How about the name "Wyatt"? He'll be the new sheriff in town.
Actually, the dog was adopted lastnight! A women I worked with had a friend whose dog died this past summer. So we are still a 4 dog household.
It was a very sweet dog though. Maybe we can ask for it back after those folks have paid for all the vet bills, shots, fixing, mange, etc.
