Catching up
Wow, it has been over a month since my last post. Well the chickens had their appointment on Sept. 9 and came home to live in the freezer. They averaged 7.5lbs so they look like mini turkeys more than chickens. It was under $30 to have all 13 "taken care of". We gave 5 away to family members which left 8 for us. We cooked one a few weeks ago and it was very tasty. We were eating chicken for almost a week. Before we cook another one we are going to have recipes in place for the left overs.
The semester is well underway (almost half way done). Ihave a book review due this Thursday (which is already done!) and a test in my statistics class tomorrow. I even registered for spring classes already (Higher of Higher Education and Quantitative Research Methodology). Sounds like good times.
We finally finished up canning (I canned some of the concord grapes a few weeks ago so I can make jelly in about a month). We canned lots of stuff and I am still getting zuchini out of the garden. Paul picked his watermelons this week and they are still pretty tasty. We had forgotten about them being in the garden until my mom asked about them!
Here is a photo of one of the chickens on the morning of their appointment. We took two big dog crates and two smaller cat crates.
This is a picture of some of the hot peppers we cut up from the garden to make into our hot&sweet peppers we can. I love the colors.

Are you guys going to open up your own chicken franchise? Finger lickin' good.
